Technology & Product Innovation Strategist
Chris Whatcott
I identify opportunities where technology can solve business problems, unlock hidden commercial value and fundamentally improve how organisations operate.
My approach combines commercial thinking, systems-level problem-solving, lateral thinking and hands-on technology experience. I challenge existing assumptions, connect data, people and processes, and turn initial ideas into practical solutions that can be tested against real-world needs.
Four independently developed ventures: Kymsoft, Savi Homes, Citi Surveys and Sixdeep.
Innovation philosophy
How I turn problems into opportunities
- 01
Identify
Recognise friction, unmet needs and inefficiencies.
- 02
Connect
Bring together relevant data, stakeholders, processes and incentives.
- 03
Reframe
Challenge existing assumptions and identify a broader opportunity.
- 04
Build
Develop a practical solution using appropriate technology, automation or AI.
- 05
Validate
Test assumptions against operational reality and gather evidence.
- 06
Scale
Prioritise, commercialise and expand what demonstrates value.
“Think commercially. Connect creatively. Build pragmatically. Validate rigorously. Scale selectively.”
Strengths
The strengths behind my approach
Opportunity recognition
Identifying commercial opportunities hidden inside existing problems, data or customer journeys.
Commercial systems thinking
Understanding how data, people, incentives and operational processes interact, and how changing one part can create value elsewhere.
Lateral and associative thinking
Connecting ideas and capabilities that are not usually considered together to develop alternative solutions.
Technology-enabled execution
Using digital tools, software, automation and AI where appropriate to turn ideas into tangible workflows and products.
Evidence-led problem-solving
Investigating root causes, questioning assumptions and using operational evidence to distinguish real issues from misleading signals.
Iterative venture building
Starting with an initial concept, learning from practical constraints and progressively evolving the product and commercial model.
These strengths reinforce each other. The distinctive value is not any single one, but the combination of commercial imagination, systems-level thinking and practical execution — as demonstrated in the projects below.
